“The Whole Child for the Whole World.”
That’s a longtime slogan for our school, developed by the founders back in 2006 as they envisioned a short phrase to express the fuller mission and impact the school would seek to establish. Please read our mission statement for a deeper expression of this idea, and peruse our website for extensive details and examples of what we do inside and outside the classroom and the impact it has had for our alumni and community alike. We focus on the whole child, and work to build them into an exceptional citizen of the city, state, nation, and world.
Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School (CCPS) is a preeminent public charter school in Albuquerque, with a unique approach to teaching and learning for students in grades 6-12. As an IB World School offering the Diploma Programme for grades 11 & 12, we are keenly aware of the need to engage our students in challenging content and approaches to learning beginning in 6th grade so that they can be successful in the internationally renowned Diploma Programme and beyond. Using the Paideia approach to instruction, our teachers immerse students in interpretive questions, Socratic seminars, intellectual coaching, project-based learning, and a combination of annotation, research, and writing skills that will build an effective foundation of skills for the IB Diploma Programme as well as any university they seek to attend.
I sincerely hope that you take your time to dig a little deeper on our website, to see what our students are doing and how our staff work to support them in perpetual partnership with their parents. There are clear reasons we rank so highly with US News and Niche, and clear evidence of our successes in engaging and developing “the whole child for the whole world.”
