NMAA Non-Sport Activities

Cottonwood Classical is proudly part of the NMAA for ESPORTS, Mock Trial, Speech and Debate, and Science Olympiad. Students in grades 8-12 are allowed to compete in most of the activities listed above. If you are interested in any of these activities, please reach out to the sponsors below.

    ESPORTS

    ESPORTS is a competitive activity where students compete against other schools by playing games such as League of Legends, Super Smash Bros, Rocket League, and more. ESPORTS begins in January of each year.

  • Grades: 8th – 12th

    Mock Trial

    Mock Trial is a competitive groups in which students gain an understanding of the legal system by providing opportunities for school teams to participate in academic competitions where players assume attorney and witness roles in a court case.

    Science Olympiad

    Science Olympiad is a competitive group in which students compete in 23 events pertaining to various fields of science, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.

    Speech and Debate

    Speech and Debate is a group in which students can participate in various competitions that can be more performance or full on debating against other students from a different school.

    Chess Team

    CCPS Chess Club is a competitive group that focuses on learning the game of chess and challenging one another to improve in match play. Students in grades 8-12 are welcome to join the team and vie for spots on the state roster. The team competes at the State Level in the NMAA Championships and in other events in the winter months of January and February.

    HOSA

    HOSA is the Future Health Professionals and is a national student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of ACTE. HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. Members of the HOSA team participate in regional and state competitions that vary between testing knowledge and practical applications. Students in grades 9-12 can join the group.
