Melissa Torres

Spanish 2 and IB Spanish Teacher; ELL Coordinator

Melissa Torres is a veteran Spanish educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience. Originally from Nebraska, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Spanish Education before completing a Master’s degree in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies at the University of New Mexico.

Melissa has enriched her language and cultural expertise through study abroad programs at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey in Querétaro, Mexico, and the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. Throughout her career, she has taught in both public and private schools in Nebraska and New Mexico.

She currently teaches Spanish II, Spanish III, and IB Spanish B Year 1, where she is passionate about helping students develop confidence in their language skills while fostering an appreciation for the diverse cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

Outside the classroom, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, cheering on Nebraska football, and making memories with her husband, two children, and their dog.
